端午的由来

端午节为每年农历五月初五，又称端阳节、午日节、五月节、夏五、重五等。端午节起源于中国，是古代百越地区（即今江苏南部沿着东南沿海的上海、浙江、福建、广东、海南、广西及越南北部一带）崇拜龙图腾的部族举行图腾祭祀的节日，在端午有以龙舟竞渡形式举行部落图腾祭祀的习俗。端午吃粽子和竞渡等习俗，都与龙相关；粽子投入水里常被蛟龙所窃，而竞渡则用的是龙舟。

端午节有吃粽子、赛龙舟、挂菖蒲、挂蒿草、挂艾叶和薰苍术、白芷以及喝雄黄酒等习俗。2006年5月，国务院将其列入首批国家级非物质文化遗产名录；自2008年起，端午节被列为国家法定节假日。2009年，端午节被列入《人类非物质文化遗产代表作名录》，这是中国首个入选世界非遗的节日。
